Help Desk & Telemedicine

Guidance and medical support — including for patients who cannot easily travel to Bengaluru.

Remote Care

Telemedicine & Tele-Consultations

For patients who are unable to travel, SSSIHMS offers telemedicine and tele-consultation services so that medical guidance and second opinions can be obtained remotely.

Our help desk team supports patients and families in navigating consultations, follow-ups and the admission process — all free of charge.

Alumni-Run Remote Seva

The Help Desk Story

The Help Desk was initiated in May 2020, in response to the Covid pandemic, to make communication easier for patients — using cloud telephony to expand the base of volunteers who could respond to patient queries. In June 2021, an advance gate-entry appointment system was added, staggering patient arrivals between 7 am and 10 am to reduce waiting and crowding.

Today the desk handles around 800 calls a day and creates about 300 gate-entry appointments daily. Some 150 trained volunteers — largely alumni of SSSIHL — participate every week in dedicated time slots, answering in multiple languages. The service runs on Exotel cloud telephony integrated with Health4All, free and open-source software.
